In our newly designed biotechnology computer lab, we're taking the next step... integrating AR and VR tools to make molecular biology and biomanufacturing truly immersive.

Picture students using Labster VR simulations to test CRISPR techniques or holding digital DNA strands in the air with AR-enabled iPads. These technologies aren't gimmicks - they're powerful, research-backed tools that help students visualize complex systems and practice lab skills safely.

We're also introducing virtual field trips to biotech facilities and using digital twin models of bioreactors, so students can explore professional environments before ever stepping foot in one.

These AR/VR tools benefit our diverse learners, including international students, by breaking down language and accessibility barriers. Using existing Apple iPads, AWS cloud systems, and scalable platforms like zSpace, we’re building a lab experience that prepares students not only to succeed in class, but to thrive in the real-world biotech industry (Makransky & Mayer, 2022; Cromley et al., 2023).
